Being the MAR Program and its partners a multinational network of marine protected areas, we will keep on working in the sites identified as critical for the Mesoamerican Reef health and its neighbor communities.

These “platform” sites represent the greatest bidodiversity value as well as the most urgent challenge in the Mesoamerican Reef due to its reknown biological, economic and social value.

Four locations where selected as keystones in the Program work, and they are:

• Gladden Spit Marine Reserve in Belize
• Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve in Mexico
• Cayos Cochinos Marine Natural Monument in Honduras
• Wildlife Refuge in Manabique Point in Guatemala

These are all living laboratories where management, monitoring and restoration strategies are verified, refined and transferred to the whole region.
