MAR
Program will concentrate
its efforts in four protected platform
areas within the
MAR emergent network.
Those sites are:
1.
Sian Ka’an
in México
2.
Cayos Cochinos
in Honduras
3.
Gladden Spit
in Belice
4.
Punta de Manabique
in Guatemala
These sites have been strategically chosen to:
- Work as a link in the marine protected areas in the network
- Promote platforms where extensive conservation approaches will be applied
- Offer lessons within the MAR system
These sites harbor a representation of the main part of the ecological and biological important processes present in the Mesoamerican reef; therefore their demonstrative character assures our management.
