Nestor WINDEWOXHEL
Director

He is a Venezuelan biologist and Conservation leader, with more than ten year experience in Protected Area Management, Coastal /Watershed management, marine conservation and environmental policies. He is a member of the Venezuelan Ecological Society, Mesoamerican Conservation Biological Society, IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas, and vice president of the World Commission for Mesoamerican, Cuba and Dominican Republic Commission on Ecosystem Management.



Alejandro ARRIVILLAGA
Marine Conservation Specialist

A Guatemalan biologist with several years of experience in marine resource management and research. He has worked in seagrass faunal ecology and conservation in the Atlantic coast and Guatemala, as well as in the Global Climate Change Program. He has been consultant in several topics, icluding Marine Protected Areas Management Plan Development, the Co-management of Marine and coastal resources, and physical oceanography.  More recently he was in charge of the synoptic monitoring program of the mesoamerican barrier reef systems.



Juan Carlos VILLAGRAN
Coordinator

He is a biologist and researcher in marine fisheries ecology, natural resource planning and management. He has worked in the Guatemala Protected Area System, in the Protected Area National Council, as well as collaborated in biodiversity conservation initiatives at Mesoamerican level. He represents TNC Guatemala Program at MAR Program.

 


María del Rosario Calderón

Learning Center Coordinator

She studied Communication Sciences with emphasis on Advertising at Rafael Landivar University. She worked for the UNDP in the economical and governmental area, and in two projects from this organization: “Municipal Strengthening for the Income Tax Administration” and in the project called “Support for the Presidential Office for legal assistance and Resolution of land conflicts”. Later on, she worked for Gutiérrez Machado Publicidad and after that, for Burson-Marsteller, an international Public Relations Agency. Additionally, she was an independent consultant for different commercial and institutional clients in communicational matters. Her experience is based on journalism, public relations and advertising. She is also a Legal Translator in English and Spanish.


Nicanor REQUENA
Technical Coordinator

He has experience in marine resources management in fish spawning aggregation. He is mainly working in Punta Gorda, Belize, as teacher in the Learning Center as well as a research team member.

 

 

 

Calina ZEPEDA
Honduras Coastal Marine Program Manager

Honduran biologist with experience in marine protected areas management and community work. She has worked in monitoring and investigation of coastal marine resources, especially with marine fauna, linked to reef fish and corals. She has also elaborated and implemented different Environmental Educational Programs focused on youngsters and elementary and preschool children. She also has a wide knowledge of the Honduran Environmental Legislation and worked as a consultant in the development of the Regulatory Frame for Whale Shark watching in Honduras.

 

 

Diana BERMÚDEZ
Yucatan Coastal and Marine Program Manager

Prior to joining the Conservancy, Diana was the Project Manager for Enviro Europa, S.A., an environmental engineering and consulting firm based in Greece, where she worked for 9 years.  During that time she managed a variety of environmental R&D projects in the European Union.  She also worked closely with governments in the Balkans to identify their environmental priorities, as well as with international financial institutions to secure the necessary resources for the implementation of these critical projects.  From 2000 to 2001 she participated in the negotiations for a Debt for Nature Swap between the U.S. government and the government of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Diana holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration and a B.A. in German from the University of Arizona, as well as a M.Sc. in Environmental Policy from London School of Economics and Political Science.  A native from Sonora, Mexico, Diana is fluent in English, Greek, and German.

 

Karina MEDINA
Administrative Assistant

Having more than nine year experience as bilingual assistant she has developed skills in international marketing, besides her experience in publicity.
